Pintu is Indonesia's most popular beginner-friendly crypto app with over 10 million Google Play downloads. It holds a full PAKD license supervised by OJK and is a member of CFX (the national crypto exchange). Pintu offers 300+ crypto assets, auto-DCA scheduling, Pintu Earn for passive income on stablecoins, and recently launched tokenized assets (stocks, ETFs, commodities).
Pros: Intuitive mobile app, auto-DCA, full Indonesian language support, educational content, low minimum deposit (IDR 10,000 / ~$0.60)

Indodax (PT Indodax Nasional Indonesia) is one of Indonesia's oldest crypto exchanges with 490+ listed assets—the largest selection among OJK-licensed platforms. It holds a full PAKD license and supports direct IDR deposits via bank transfers. Indodax caters to experienced traders who want access to a wide range of altcoins within the regulated framework.
Pros: 490+ coins (widest selection), established reputation, full PAKD license, direct IDR support
Cons: Higher taker fees (0.30%), interface less beginner-friendly than Pintu, limited educational resources
Tokocrypto (PT Aset Digital Berkat) is a Binance subsidiary holding a full PAKD license. It offers deep IDR liquidity and a competitive flat fee of 0.10%. As part of the Binance ecosystem, Tokocrypto benefits from shared liquidity pools and robust infrastructure. It's the compliant way for Indonesian users to access Binance-grade technology, with final income tax withheld automatically at 0.21%.
Pros: Binance-backed infrastructure, flat 0.10% fee, deep IDR liquidity, full OJK license, IDR deposits in seconds
Cons: Fewer coins than Indodax, derivatives limited under local rules, fewer products than the global Binance app
Reku offers a flat 0.10% trading fee (maker and taker), making it the most transparent low-fee option among OJK-licensed exchanges. It lists 350+ coins and is known for strong proof-of-reserve audits. Reku supports direct IDR deposits and is ideal for cost-conscious traders who want regulated access.
Pros: Transparent flat 0.10% fee, proof-of-reserve audits, 350+ coins, OJK licensed

Luno Indonesia (PT Luno Indonesia Ltd.) received its PAKD business licence in May 2026 (KEP-17/D.07/2026), adding a long-established global retail brand to the regulated market. It focuses on a simple mobile experience, bank/VA IDR funding and strong investor education, suiting first-time buyers who prefer an internationally recognised operator.
Pros: Newly OJK-licensed (2026), beginner-friendly global app, strong education, regulated IDR funding
Cons: Smaller local coin list than Indodax, fee schedule less aggressive than Reku/Tokocrypto, newer to the domestic market

Example: Selling Rp 10,000,000 on Pintu (domestic) = Rp 21,000 tax + Rp 555 CFX fee. The same sale on an unlicensed foreign platform (blocked in Indonesia, used only via VPN) would be Rp 100,000 tax and must be self-reported.
Key takeaway: Using a licensed Indonesian exchange is both safer and significantly cheaper for tax. The 5x tax gap (0.21% auto-withheld vs 1% self-reported) is one of the strongest reasons to stay on a local PAKD platform rather than a blocked offshore venue.

Yes. Crypto trading is legal and regulated by OJK (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan). Since January 2025, oversight transferred from Bappebti to OJK under POJK 27/2024. All exchanges must hold a PAKD license. As of April 2026, 32 entities are licensed and Indonesia has 21.7 million crypto accounts.
All reputable choices are OJK-licensed (PAKD) local apps. Pintu is best for beginners (300+ coins, auto-DCA, Indonesian-language support), Indodax has the largest selection (490+ coins), Tokocrypto suits active traders (Binance subsidiary, deep IDR liquidity), Reku offers a flat 0.10% fee, and newly licensed Luno is a simple global-brand option. Unlicensed global platforms including OKX and global Binance are blocked and not recommended.
VAT was abolished on August 1, 2025. Final income tax (PPh 22) is 0.21% on domestic platforms and 1% on foreign platforms. Licensed exchanges auto-withhold the tax. For example, selling Rp 10,000,000 on a local exchange costs about Rp 21,000 in tax.
No, not legally and practically from within Indonesia. OKX holds no Indonesian PAKD licence and was named in OJK Satgas PASTI's 2026 actions against unlicensed digital-financial-asset traders, so its website and app are blocked at ISP/app level. Accessing it with a VPN breaches its terms of service, provides no local consumer protection, prevents direct IDR funding, and incurs the higher 1% self-reported foreign-platform tax. Use a licensed local app (or Tokocrypto for Binance technology) instead.
PAKD (Pedagang Aset Keuangan Digital) is the license required to operate a crypto exchange in Indonesia. Applicants need IDR 100 billion (~$6M) paid-up capital, majority Indonesian directors, CISSP-certified staff, and integration with CFX, KKI, and a licensed custodian. 26 entities hold PAKD licenses as of 2026.
Licensed Indonesian exchanges support direct IDR deposits via bank transfer (BCA, Mandiri, BNI, BRI), virtual accounts, and e-wallets (GoPay, OVO, Dana). Minimum deposits start from IDR 10,000 (~$0.60). Blocked foreign platforms such as OKX do not support direct IDR and should not be accessed from Indonesia.
Under UU P2SK (Law 4/2023), oversight transferred from Bappebti to OJK on January 10, 2025 (completed January 20, 2026). The old CPFAK provisional status was abolished. POJK 27/2024 is now the core regulation, classifying crypto as digital financial assets rather than commodities.
We scored each exchange across five factors: OJK regulatory status (PAKD license presence), IDR deposit accessibility (direct bank/e-wallet), fee transparency (base fee + CFX + tax), product range (spot, permitted derivatives, staking), and user experience (app quality, education, Indonesian language support). We only rank OJK-licensed platforms. Global venues such as OKX and the international Binance platform are unlicensed and ISP-blocked in Indonesia (OJK Satgas PASTI, 2026), so they are explained as a regulatory warning rather than recommended.
Fee tables only get you halfway — deposit method, network and withdrawal fees decide what you actually pay. Compare exchange fees in Indonesia using verified spot rates. Withdrawal fees are your input, never an invented number.
